In tribute to the athletes who will represent Colombia, Ecuador and El Salvador at the Paris Olympics, Avianca – the official airline of the Olympic Committees of the three countries – today presented an aircraft with a new commemorative paint job.

This aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will be flying through the skies of 25 countries and 75 destinations through Avianca's route network to highlight the talent of local athletes under the motto #WeBelieveInTheExtraordinary.

Today, the plane honoring sport completed its first trip on the Bogotá-Paris route. Avianca flight AV228 –also the official airline of the Colombian national teams– departed with a group of more than 15 players from the Women's Soccer Team who will be preparing to compete in Paris starting on July 26.

“When we say we believe in the extraordinary, we also prove it. That is why, this year we have the honor of being the official airline of the Olympic Committees of Colombia, Ecuador and El Salvador and of the Colombian National Teams in all their categories. But, in addition, today we present an aircraft that reaffirms our pride and recognizes the effort of our athletes, coaches and delegations,” said Ana María Copete, Director of Commercial Development at Avianca.

The presentation of the new Avianca livery at Bogotá's El Dorado Airport was attended by the presidents of the Olympic Committees of Colombia, Ecuador and El Salvador.

“For the Colombian Olympic family, it is a source of pride to be present on this plane with our brand, in an alliance that benefits the athletes who will compete in the Olympic Games. Today we began to arrive in Paris with Avianca and the pioneers are the members of the Colombian Women's Soccer Team, who represent the entire delegation, with whom we hope to return on this same plane, with several Olympic medals,” said Ciro Solano Hurtado, president of the Colombian Olympic Committee.

Captain Jorge Aurelio Delgado, President of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, added: "For Ecuadorian Olympic sport, being able to count on Avianca as the official airline of Team Ecuador is a source of great satisfaction and pride at the same time. Without a doubt, it fills us with joy to be able to tell Ecuador that our athletes will travel with all the comforts and the best attention so that they arrive in Paris in the best conditions and can achieve their goals. We thank their executives for having trusted the tricolor Olympic sport and we predict the best of success in this new route, which will undoubtedly be another success for an airline that makes us dream of the extraordinary."

Also, José Armando Bruni, president of the Olympic Committee of El Salvador, stated that "for the Olympic Committee of El Salvador, the alliance with Avianca is extremely important since this airline, with deep roots in El Salvador, has become the official airline of #TeamESA for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The fact that Avianca is providing an exhibition on an airplane to the Olympic Committees of El Salvador, Colombia and Ecuador highlights the collaboration and twinning between these countries. Thus, the skies that will connect our continent with Paris will help us promote the Olympic Movement. Very grateful for all the support and trust in the project."

This is the route that will take the Olympic Committees to Paris:

Since July 3, Avianca has begun operating the direct Bogotá-Paris route with three weekly frequencies, which will increase to five frequencies per week as of July 15 to better connect Latin America and Europe.

All flights will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft—one of the most modern fleets in the world—with the Avianca Insignia experience in Business Class and different alternatives so that all customers can choose how to fly.
