Avianca has announced the opening, starting in June, of four new routes from Medellín to Aruba, Buenos Aires, Lima and Santiago de Chile, which continues to promote Colombia as a regional connectivity point with the Americas. In addition, in view of the mid-year high season, the airline will also reactivate the direct Medellín-Orlando route and increase the number of frequencies to New York and Miami.

“Avianca is committed to increasing access and promoting Colombia's connectivity with the Americas. For this reason, the routes that we are opening to and from Medellín allow us to strengthen this work and bring the capital of Antioquia closer to Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States. Thanks to the coordination with the authorities and our allies, during this season we will have 26 domestic and international routes that will allow Antioquia to connect with more destinations, while more tourists can come to the region,” said David Alemán, Sales Director of Avianca. for Colombia and Latin America.

“Today, in partnership with Avianca, we are launching four new direct routes to our city, Aruba, Lima, Santiago and Buenos Aires. This will undoubtedly increase tourism, because it has been proven that when a city offers more direct routes, tourism definitely grows. This is the tourism we are looking for, that vacation tourism that we all like and that makes the city where it arrives grow,” said José Alejandro González, Secretary of Tourism and Entertainment of Medellín.

“The opening of new air routes to these destinations marks a fundamental milestone for the connectivity of Antioquia. These connections will not only facilitate trade and investment, but will also open the doors to a greater flow of visitors and the creation of new jobs. From the Government of Antioquia, we urge Antioquia companies to take advantage of these opportunities to expand their businesses and explore new markets. The departmental government will continue to work hand in hand with airlines and other actors to consolidate Antioquia as a regional connectivity center and a competitive world-class commercial destination,” added Santiago Valencia, Secretary of Productivity and Competitiveness of Antioquia.

The sky of Medellín belongs to everyone With the launch of the new operations, the 26 routes that will connect the capital of Antioquia directly will be:

International destinations: Cancun, New York, Madrid, Mexico City, Miami, Punta Cana, San Jose, San Juan and Quito. From June: Lima*, Santiago*, Aruba*, Buenos Aires and Orlando*.

“We celebrate the opening of these four new international air routes. This news is a testament to the tireless efforts that Colombia, the Country of Beauty, has undertaken to strengthen its presence in the global market.
