The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that according to information from the Migration Policy Unit-Registration and Identity of Persons of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), the main countries in arrivals of international tourists by air to Mexico according to Their nationalities in the first quarter of 2024 were: United States, Canada and Colombia with 5 million 299 thousand tourists, 9.2% more compared to January-March 2023; also exceeding the tourists from the same period in 2019 by 33.7%.

The arrival of tourists from the United States during January and March 2024 was 3 million 979 thousand tourists, with an increase of 9% more compared to the same period in 2023 and also exceeding the arrivals registered in January-March by 42.5%. of 2019.

The arrival of Canadian tourists during the first quarter of 2024 was one million 159 thousand tourists, this is 13.5% more than what was registered in the same period of 2023, also exceeding, by 10.4%, the million 50 thousand tourists captured during January -March 2019.

During the first quarter of 2024, the arrival of Colombian tourists by air was 160,863 tourists, exceeding the arrivals of 2019 with 32% more, during the same period.

The rest of the nationalities counted one million 348 thousand tourists, this represents 0.6% more than what was captured during the first quarter of 2023.

It was reported that, during January-March 2024, the airports with the highest arrival of international tourists by air were Cancún, AICM and Puerto Vallarta, with 4 million 925 thousand international tourists, thus exceeding the arrivals registered in the first quarter of 6.7%. 2023 and also exceeding the arrivals of the same period in 2019 by 19.8%.

The Cancún airport, Quintana Roo, received 3 million 96 thousand international tourists, 8.8% more compared to January-March 2023; One million 105 thousand tourists arrived at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM); Already in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, 723,165 tourists arrived, this is 10.9% more compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The rest of the airports with international operations received one million 722 thousand tourists, which represents an increase of 9.2% compared to the first quarter of 2023 and a market share of 25.9%.
