The Chile 2024 Workshop was held with great success, an event organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) with the aim of promoting the varied and attractive Peruvian tourism offer in the neighboring country.
During this activity called “Peru: unforgettable experiences” leisure and vacation tourism was promoted to the regions of Arequipa, Cusco, Ica, Lima, Loreto, Piura and Tumbes; as well as the tourism segment for meetings, incentives, conventions and events, which has a growing impact on the country's economy and which has been developing in cities such as Lima, Cusco, Ica, Arequipa and Loreto.
At the business conference held at The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Santiago de Chile, a total of 368 business meetings were held. The exhibitors were distributed among 10 Peruvian companies, the Iquitos and Lima Bureau, and three airlines. In addition, 60 Chilean companies attended.
With this space for business relations, commercial ties were strengthened between Peruvian businessmen and the main Chilean tour operators, who had the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of destinations that Peru has.
Peruvian culture and gastronomy present at the event
The day after the business conference, April 24, and as a closing of the workshop activities, Chilean businessmen from the tourism sector, tour operators, airlines, travel agencies, OTAs (online travel agents) had the opportunity to enjoy a show with Peruvian paso horses and northern marinera, and delight in an exquisite Creole lunch, at the Hacienda Don Gabo, one hour from the Chilean capital.
The activity was led by the PROMPERÚ commercial office team in Chile, and included the participation of representatives from the embassy and consulate of Peru in that country.
The activity attempted to capture the essence of Peru, take it directly to the heart of every Chilean and invite them to discover and fall in love with everything that our wonderful destination has to offer them.
It is important to highlight that Chile is a very important market for our country. In 2023, Chile regained first place as the country that sends tourists to Peru, representing 24% of the international total. This year, the arrival of nearly 1,300,000 Chilean travelers is expected.
